Fugitive Ex-BDO Arrested Near Kolkata

Former Rajganj Block Development Officer Prashant Barman has been apprehended near Kolkata for allegedly driving under the influence, police reported on Tuesday.

Barman, who had been in hiding for months, is implicated in the murder of a businessman in 2025, adding to his list of charges.

He was caught on Monday night by Eco Park Police Station officers after a reckless driving incident harmed a pedestrian. Following verification, his identity as the wanted suspect Barman was confirmed. He will appear in Barasat court, with authorities seeking custody for further investigation into the murder case.
