Authorities in Muzaffarnagar, located in Uttar Pradesh, have detained five individuals for alleged involvement in posting provocative Bakrid greetings on social media. The contentious posts reportedly included cow imagery created using artificial intelligence.

Senior police official Sanjay Kumar stated that the arrested individuals included Punit Kumar, who serves as a principal at a local college in the Mirapur region, and Pradeep Kumar, a computer operator. Their arrest took place on Wednesday following objections raised by local groups over the posts. In a related incident, social worker Gohar Siddiqui faced arrest the same day for uploading a similar type of content on social platforms.

Further arrests occurred on Thursday, involving Zahid and Kalimuddin from the Kakroli and Bhopa police station jurisdictions, respectively, for content of a similar nature. The police have filed separate cases against the accused, and investigations remain ongoing.
