In a dramatic turn of events in Odisha's Ganjam district, a brawl between two theatre groups erupted during the performance of 'Mahabharat,' leaving nearly twelve people injured, including two police officers. The incident unfolded late Wednesday night at Markandi under Golanthara police station jurisdiction.
According to officials, the clash involved theatre troupes from the villages of Ramapalli and Gobindapur, who were staging the play for the Thakurani Yatra festival. An argument between group members escalated into a full-blown confrontation, with bricks and stones being hurled. Police attempting to restore order were attacked with stones and crude bombs. Authorities have so far arrested ten individuals, and several materials used in the fight were recovered. The situation is now reportedly under control, with intensified patrolling ensuring safety.
