The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed serious concerns regarding the worsening water shortages in Delhi, attributing the crisis to the absence of a chief executive officer (CEO) at the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), a position unfilled for over a month.

During a press briefing, Saurabh Bharadwaj, head of AAP's Delhi unit, criticized the BJP-led state government for its inadequate preparations to address the heightened water demand typical of the summer months. Bharadwaj stressed that many city residents are enduring prolonged water supply disruptions, some lasting weeks without regular service.

Bharadwaj highlighted that critical water management and policy decisions are stalling due to the unoccupied CEO post, stressing that failures in addressing summer water demand have intensified under the current administration. He noted residents are often compelled to wait late into the night for water deliveries, with some areas facing severe scarcity.

The current predicament is unprecedented, Bharadwaj remarked, marking the first time in recent memory that the DJB lacks a CEO for such an extended period. Reflecting on previous administrations, he mentioned effective advance planning during past summers under AAP leadership helped prevent similar issues. The BJP has yet to respond to these allegations.
