Authorities in Patna have detained two people accused of attacking an excise team that was conducting a raid on individuals suspected of illegal alcohol consumption in Bakhtiyarpur, a region enforcing a liquor ban. The raid resulted in the arrest of three individuals, but quickly escalated when locals intervened.
The confrontation led to three team members sustaining injuries while their vehicle was damaged by bricks and stones thrown during the attack. Police have identified and arrested Ramchandra Paswan, known as Ramanand Paswan, and Kanhaiya Kumar, both reportedly from Barki Mahmoodpur. Further investigations are underway to apprehend any additional suspects.
Local officials reported that the arrested men have a history of alcohol-related offenses. The injured personnel, including the driver Kanhaiya Kumar, constable Aditya Raj, and another individual named Mantu Kumar, are undergoing medical treatment at a local health facility.
