The leaders of the All India Tennis Association (AITA), Chintan Parikh and Sunder Iyer, emphasize the necessity of a full term to enact transformative reforms in the Indian tennis landscape. Their approach intends to prioritize player welfare, transparency, and governance, amidst past administrative struggles.
Since the controversial elections of 2024, questions have loomed over AITA's leadership legitimacy. Former Chief Justice Geeta Mittal was appointed to align AITA's governance with the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. Parikh insists the current administration is cohesive and committed to athlete representation and ethical financial practices.
Sunder Iyer, highlighting an inherited 'broken system,' seeks public patience to showcase effective sports administration. They envision a player-centric ecosystem, pressing for grassroots development and robust support structures throughout their proposed term.
Despite Delhi High Court's interim approval of the 2024 election results, factionalism concerns persist. Iyer affirms their goal is to transcend such barriers, fostering a transparent, professional environment for all stakeholders in Indian tennis.
