Global Women's Network to Advocate for Pastoralist Rights

A new international network representing women pastoralists has been established to influence global policy agendas. This initiative emerged from a recent four-day conference focused on pastoralist women. It aims to highlight these women's crucial roles in promoting climate resilience and sustaining biodiversity across vast rangelands.

The Global Gathering of Pastoralist Women saw the finalization of three significant outcomes, including the formation of the network and the Kathmandu Declaration. The declaration sets a unified framework to address issues such as land and resource access, political empowerment, and climate justice. The initiative is backed by ICIMOD and other partners, offering a platform for advocacy and support for women's leadership in this vital sector.

This global network aspires to continually sustain knowledge sharing and advocacy efforts. By connecting grassroots movements with high-level policy discussions, they aim to bring much-needed focus to the vital role women pastoralists play, especially in light of global challenges like climate change.
