RTI Activist Killed in Phagwara Shooting
RTI activist Simaranjit Singh was fatally shot by unknown attackers near Maheru village, Phagwara. Authorities recovered firearms at the scene and are investigating using CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Simaranjit Singh, a Jalandhar-based activist who frequently utilized the Right to Information Act, was shot and killed by unidentified assailants near Maheru village's entrance in Phagwara on Saturday, according to local authorities.
Naveen Singla, Jalandhar Range Deputy Inspector General, reported that authorities discovered a 32 bore pistol near Singh's body and a 12 bore rifle in a nearby vehicle. The police are analyzing CCTV footage to track down the attackers, with several police teams already on the case. Assistance from counter-intelligence may be requested to solve the case. The authorities have registered a case under the appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
