Himanta Biswa Sarma, leading Assam, recently held discussions with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Delhi. His aim was to establish Assam as a key player in India's defence landscape while enhancing international trade and tourism connections.

During his conversation with Singh, Sarma expressed gratitude for Singh's support during Assam's election campaign and sought his advice on leveraging Assam's defence potential. In his meeting with Jaishankar, Sarma appreciated insights on India's global strategy, particularly on strengthening the Act East Policy, aspiring for Assam to drive stronger commercial and tourism engagements with bordering countries.
