Revamping Delhi: Transforming Roads into Model Corridors

The Delhi government is set to revitalize five major city roads, transforming them into 'model corridors' characterized by reduced dust, abundant greenery, and pedestrian-friendly features, according to official sources.

A recent review meeting, led by Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu alongside road agencies and the School of Planning and Architecture, discussed the decongestion strategy. Once completed, these corridors will become showcases of dust-mitigation, providing green, pedestrian-oriented, and recreational spaces, operational around the clock, SPA sources further divulged.

This redevelopment initiative will introduce advanced storm water drainage systems to prevent waterlogging, create vendor-friendly zones with Craft Bazars for vibrant nightlife, and integrate pedestrian pathways with cycle tracks. Additional features will include public safety measures like street lighting and security surveillance, enhancing the environment for women and children.
