A joyful gathering among friends near the Saket metro station turned catastrophic when a multi-storey building unexpectedly collapsed, leading to the tragic death of six individuals. On Saturday evening, the building came down upon a canteen, where a small group was rejoicing, trapping several people beneath the debris.

Among the victims was 28-year-old Kapil, recently interviewed for a role at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. He and his five friends were meeting at the adjacent canteen, frequently visited by students preparing for competitive exams. Rescue efforts persisted overnight to account for all victims as inquiries into the collapse commenced.

Rescue teams faced challenges as locals reported slow response initially, with community members leading early efforts to find survivors. Witnesses described a loud cracking noise preceding the sudden collapse, which left a mess of rubble that had housed educational institutes among other facilities.
