Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Calls for Peace Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

In a fervent appeal for peace, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, on Friday called on India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions to prevent further destruction. He expressed grave concern over the precarious state of affairs in the Union Territory.
The Mirwaiz highlighted the severe consequences faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir amid escalating tensions, as they endure significant suffering, loss of life, and disruption to their livelihoods. "Whenever tensions rise between India and Pakistan, it is the people across the LOC who bear the brunt," he remarked.
Adding to the distress, the Mirwaiz revealed that he was placed under house arrest and prevented from offering Friday prayers at Jama Masjid. In a message of solidarity, he urged the faithful to pray for peace and guidance, emphasizing collective resolve against further bloodshed.
