During a recent event in Berlin, Herzog emphasized that the new mechanism aims to directly reach the Gazan populace, thus ensuring that assistance is efficiently utilized. He stressed the importance of international collaboration with NGOs and the United Nations in refining and implementing this plan.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, present at the event, echoed Herzog's concerns, advocating for the urgent renewal of aid flows to Gaza, which have been suspended since March. The proposal marks a pivotal step in addressing the humanitarian needs amidst ongoing tensions.
