Europe's Deadline: Sanctions Loom as Russia Defies Ceasefire
European countries are poised to impose new sanctions on Russia if it fails to adhere to a proposed 30-day ceasefire in its conflict with Ukraine. Despite diplomatic efforts spearheaded by major European powers, Russia continues its military aggression, further complicating peace talks and diplomatic relations.

European nations are preparing to impose new sanctions on Russia unless it complies with a 30-day ceasefire in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine. The German government has indicated that, as of the end of Monday, sanctions will be prepared unless the Kremlin abides by the ceasefire.
Despite calls for peace, Russia has persisted in its attacks, with numerous offensives reported in eastern Ukraine. Additionally, an overnight operation saw over 100 drones used by Russian forces, indicating a clear disregard for the European and Kyiv ceasefire proposal.
The diplomatic landscape remains tense, with President Vladimir Putin rejecting the ceasefire offer while proposing direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Istanbul. However, no response has been forthcoming from the Kremlin, further stalling peace negotiations.
