China is poised to operationalize its third and most advanced aircraft carrier, 'Fujian,' within this year, marking a significant milestone for its naval fleet. With nearly three years of sea trials completed, the carrier positions China to manage three robust carrier groups for the first time, official media sources have reported.

The state-of-the-art Fujian boasts an electromagnetic aircraft launch system akin to the USS Gerald R Ford of the US Navy. Launched in 2024, it has undergone more than 100 days at sea, marking steady progress in preparation for commissioning, which is anticipated within the coming months, according to the Global Times.

These advancements come amid China's broader military ambitions, which include expanding its naval power with up to five aircraft carriers and developing new fighter aircraft. With President Xi Jinping's directives to enhance military readiness against regional adversaries, China is also rapidly increasing its nuclear arsenal, as highlighted by a recent report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
