Kerala's General Education Minister V Sivankutty lashed out at the state Governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, on Thursday. He accused the Governor of breaching constitutional norms by transforming a formal ceremony into a political platform at Raj Bhavan.

The Minister's remarks were a response to Raj Bhavan's allegation that Sivankutty had violated protocols during an event attended by the Governor. Sivankutty clarified his stance, indicating that his actions were a protest rooted in upholding constitutional dignity.

Sivankutty stressed the importance of neutrality, citing Article 163 of the Indian Constitution that mandates the Governor to act on the advice of the State Council of Ministers. His walkout was sparked by the display of a 'Bharat Mata' image, which he argued associated national identity with religious symbolism, contrary to India's secular ethos.
