In a recent announcement, former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the extension of the deadline for the divestment of TikTok's U.S. assets by China-based ByteDance by an additional 90 days. The new deadline is set for September 17, 2025.
Trump shared the news on Truth Social, along with a copy of the Executive Order. He had previously granted two similar extensions, delaying federal enforcement that originally required ByteDance to sell or discontinue TikTok operations by January.
Expressing a positive outlook, Trump indicated his belief that a favorable deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping could keep TikTok operational in the United States. TikTok, in response, thanked Trump for his leadership, highlighting the app's significance for over 170 million American users and 7.5 million U.S. businesses.
