In a strong political statement, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray suggested that an alliance with Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) could be on the horizon. He argued that the Mahayuti coalition, led by the BJP and Eknath Shinde, aims to prevent the unification of Marathi parties.
Speaking at the party's foundation day event, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister pledged to challenge the BJP's influence. Thackeray remarked that any attempt to undermine his family's legacy would be met with a swift rebuttal intended to 'finish off' the BJP, especially concerning divisive policies that might alienate Marathi speakers.
Amid speculation on a coalition with the MNS as BMC elections approach, Thackeray emphasized his opposition to Hindi imposition in Maharashtra, framing it as a tactic to divide communities just before the polls. The party also criticized the Mahayuti government's handling of the fatal Indrayani River bridge collapse in Pune, questioning Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's responsibility.
