In a significant diplomatic choice, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced he had turned down an invitation from US President Donald Trump to visit Washington. The decision came as Modi opted to attend a rally in Odisha, an area revered for its association with Lord Jagannath.
While addressing the gathering in Bhubaneswar, Modi shared that Trump's invitation came during the G7 Summit in Canada, which he attended. Modi explained he had to refuse the invitation due to prior commitments in Odisha, a decision supported by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri's statement on the matter.
Despite not meeting Trump, Modi extended an invitation to the US President to visit India for the upcoming Quad Summit. Meanwhile, Modi progressed with major developmental initiatives in Odisha, launching projects valued over Rs 18,600 crore during the event.
