Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, has expressed serious concerns over the rising tensions in the Middle East, urging for peaceful dialogue to resolve brewing conflicts. Speaking at the Jamia Masjid, he called on US President Donald Trump to reconsider any potential military actions against Iran.
Highlighting the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Mirwaiz pointed to the recent Israeli attacks that have led to the deaths of 92 people, including children, as Palestinians struggle with severe food shortages. He condemned the continuous violence and stressed the need for peaceful engagement to avoid further regional instability.
In addition, Mirwaiz raised concerns about the health of fellow separatist leader Shabir Shah, detained in Tihar Jail, and urged the authorities to ensure proper medical care. He appealed to the government to assist Shah's family and uphold prisoners' human rights, emphasizing the need for a humane approach to political incarceration.
