Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge expressed outrage on Sunday regarding the Central government's delayed approval for his visit to the United States. The minister alleged that this delay resulted in Karnataka missing significant investment opportunities. He labeled the Ministry of External Affairs' actions as part of a politically motivated game against opposition-led states.
Kharge emphasized Karnataka's vital role as an economic powerhouse in India, stressing the importance of securing international investments. He critiqued the unequal treatment toward southern states, claiming they are pivotal contributors to the national GDP but face undue political challenges. "We are one of the country's biggest growth engines," he asserted.
Previously, the Congress leader had taken to social media to demand clarification on the denial of his US travel request. Although initially submitted on May 15, his application faced rejection without explanation until a subsequent reversal. Kharge highlighted this inconsistency as detrimental to efforts in forging global collaborations and attracting investments to Karnataka.
