The Pakistan government has scheduled an emergency meeting of its National Security Committee (NSC) on Monday, following the recent US airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. The strikes targeted sites in Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz, sparking regional tensions.
The NSC, the country's premier security forum, will be chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Key figures, including Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who recently visited the US, will attend the meeting. Munir is expected to provide detailed insights from his discussions with US President Donald Trump.
In a dialog with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Prime Minister Sharif denounced the US strikes and expressed solidarity with Iran, offering condolences for the loss of life. This development follows Pakistan's recent nomination of Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
