The Assam government has intensified its crackdown on 'anti-Hindu' activities, following the devastating Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday the arrest of two individuals, taking the total number of arrests to 97.
The recent arrests include one person each from the Tinsukia and Nagaon districts, who reportedly shared content deemed objectionable to Hinduism. The government underscored its zero-tolerance policy by swiftly detaining anyone making derogatory remarks on religious figures.
This wave of arrests follows the earlier apprehension of AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam on sedition charges, connected to comments made on the Pahalgam attack. As tensions rise, the Chief Minister has urged the public to support national efforts against terrorism.
