The UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy assured that the United States harbors no intentions of toppling Iran's government despite a provocative social media post by President Donald Trump. This reassurance comes amid heightened tensions between the nations.

Speaking to the BBC, Lammy emphasized that both Israel and the US are not targeting the civilian leadership in Tehran. His comments followed discussions with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, aimed at reviving diplomatic channels with Iran.

While Lammy has not yet assessed the impact of recent strikes on Iran's nuclear program, he stresses that diplomacy is paramount in resolving the issues at hand. The UK continues to advocate for peaceful negotiations to defuse the situation.
