Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remarked on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Syama Prasad Mookerjee's ideological legacy by abrogating Article 370, previously granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The statement was made during a memorial organized by Delhi BJP leaders at S P Mookerjee Park.
Prominent figures, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, paid homage to Mookerjee. Pradhan stated that Mookerjee was more than a leader; he represented a living ideology within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mookerjee's entry into Jammu and Kashmir 72 years ago marked a pivotal historical moment opposing 'two systems in one country.'
Pradhan emphasized Mookerjee's role in establishing Jana Sangh and creating an alternative political ideology alongside the RSS. He stressed that Modi's governance reflects Mookerjee's philosophies, focusing on national security, sovereignty, and service-oriented governance inspired by Indian values.
