Alifa Ahmed's Landslide Victory in Kaliganj Bypolls

Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed secured a decisive victory in Kaliganj by winning by a margin of 50,049 votes against BJP's Ashish Ghosh. Despite slightly fewer votes than her late father in 2021, her triumph was due to a better vote division among competitors.

Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed emerged victorious in the Kaliganj bypolls, securing a landslide win with a margin of 50,049 votes over her closest competitor, BJP's Ashish Ghosh. This result surpasses the 46,987-vote margin won by her father, Nasiruddin Ahmed in 2021.

Ahmed accumulated a total of 1,02,759 votes, while Ghosh collected 52,710 votes, according to data from the Election Commission. Congress's Kabil Uddin Shaikh, supported by the Left, secured third place with 28,348 votes.

Alifa Ahmed, outside the counting centre, said her victory is owed to 'people's love' and highlighted that the results demonstrate a rejection of communal divides. She credited Hindus and other community voters for their support, emphasizing her party's inclusive approach.
