In a significant development, the Ministry of External Affairs has facilitated the evacuation of 1,713 Indians from conflict-ridden Iran under Operation Sindhu. Among them, 20 Telugu-speaking individuals have been successfully relocated, with 17 safely reaching New Delhi on Tuesday morning, as confirmed by Arja Srikanth, Andhra Pradesh Bhavan Commissioner in Delhi.
These efforts come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, which prompted diplomatic negotiations to reopen Iran's airspace for safe passage. As a result, six flights operated by Mahan Air helped repatriate 1,568 Indians, with an additional flight on June 22 further boosting those numbers.
The Andhra Pradesh Bhavan has coordinated with the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society and volunteer groups to provide necessary support for the evacuees. Officials continue to prioritize evacuating the remaining 800 Indian nationals, focusing especially on students and vulnerable groups in afflicted areas.
