The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday leveled stark accusations against the opposition alliance, suggesting an attempt to transform the Indian Constitution into a 'sharia script.' This follows remarks from RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who proposed discarding the amended Waqf Act should his bloc gain power in Bihar.
BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi denounced the INDIA bloc coalition, which includes parties like RJD, Congress, and the Left, for disrespecting the Constitution by opposing an Act enacted by Parliament and currently under Supreme Court review. He contended that these actions were aimed at rallying Muslim votes.
Trivedi emphasized the BJP-led NDA's dedication to the Constitution as outlined by B R Ambedkar, countering claims of 'samajwaad' (socialism) and alleging a hidden agenda of 'namazwaad.' He asserted that Sharia provisions proposed by the opposition are not even fully implemented in certain Islamic countries and criticized the misuse of Waqf properties.
