Constitutional Clash: Kharge vs RSS on Preamble Changes

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has voiced strong opposition to RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale's call for a review of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of India's Constitution. Kharge insists that any attempts to alter these words will be met with fierce resistance from his party.

Kharge, speaking from his Bengaluru residence, accused Hosabale of adhering to regressive social ideologies, aimed at suppressing marginalized communities. He castigated the RSS for its stance, suggesting that its ideology seeks to perpetuate 'Manusmriti'-like conditions, rejecting core principles of socialism and secularism.

Addressing Hosabale's remarks at a recent event, which claimed these terms were added during the Emergency, Kharge called for the RSS to focus on eliminating untouchability instead. He firmly stated that Congress would fight tooth and nail against any constitutional change, urging the RSS to unite the country rather than sow division.
