Congress Strategizes for BMC Elections: Decision on Alliance Looms

The Congress is set to make a crucial decision regarding its approach to the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. On July 7, the party will decide whether to contest alone or form an alliance. This follows a strategic meeting led by AICC general secretary Ramesh Chennithala, focusing on the party's future direction in Maharashtra.

During the discussions at the AICC headquarters, which included senior leaders like former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and Pradesh Congress president Harshwardhan Vasantrao Sapkal, the party evaluated its strategy for local body elections across the state. The leaders aimed to address electoral irregularities and strategize on strengthening Congress's hold in Maharashtra.

Chennithala mentioned that the political affairs committee in Maharashtra will make a final decision on the BMC elections during their meeting in Mumbai. Additionally, regional consultations will be undertaken to gather perspectives from local party units, while addressing issues raised by BJP to divert attention from governance failures.
