South Korea's parliament has given the nod to Kim Min-seok as the country's new prime minister, marking a key step in supporting liberal leader President Lee Jae Myung to establish his administration following his election victory on June 3.
Kim gained attention in August of the previous year for his foresight when he predicted that then-President Yoon Suk Yeol might invoke martial law, a prediction that preceded Yoon's controversial, short-lived military decree, which ultimately led to his ousting in April.
With his approval now official, Kim has emphasized that his primary focus will be on driving South Korea's economic recovery, a statement made before his confirmation.
