In a symbolic move to 'awaken people', senior West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh took to the streets of Durgapur on Thursday morning, wielding a 'damru'. This act coincides with the election of Samik Bhattacharya as the state's new BJP president, an election with no opposition candidates.

Ghosh explained the 'damru', referenced to the Hindu deity Lord Shiva, who uses the hand drum during the month of Shravan to awaken consciousness. However, Ghosh offered no further details on the 'current situation' he was alluding to. Meanwhile, he praised Bhattacharya as an educated and capable party member.

Despite speculation about a potential political shift after his visit to Digha's Jagannath temple and meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh has denied any such intentions. He clarified that his visit was an official engagement, sanctioned by his party.
