The Bihar Legislative Assembly's monsoon session commenced with a somber tribute to political figures who passed away earlier this year. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, responsible for the Finance portfolio, presented a substantial supplementary budget amounting to approximately Rs 57,947 crore.
Following the budget presentation, Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav adjourned the House, as several key legislative and financial matters are set to be addressed during this critical session. Notably, the Speaker emphasized the significance of smooth cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties as the session marks the last before the upcoming state elections.
The opening day also witnessed protests by CPI(ML) Liberation members, who donned black kurtas in a symbolic demonstration against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, a crucial component in the upcoming polls. The session is scheduled to conclude on July 25.
