Rubio Develops New Deportation Path Amid Haitian Gang Ties
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced measures to deport lawful permanent residents linked to Haitian gangs. The announcement aligns with President Trump's hardline immigration policies. Amid escalating violence in Haiti, the deportation initiative faces criticism over humanitarian concerns and potential regional destabilization effects.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has set the stage for deporting certain lawful permanent residents from the United States. Rubio stated that the decision targets those linked to Haitian gang leaders associated with a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, Viv Ansanm.
This development aligns with the Trump administration's increasing deportations as part of a stringent immigration policy. Rubio aims to revoke the visas of individuals seen as aiding criminal organizations like Viv Ansanm, which was labeled a Foreign Terrorist Organization by Trump in May.
The escalating violence in Haiti has claimed nearly 5,000 lives, according to U.N. reports, aggravating the region's humanitarian crisis. Despite international concerns, the U.S. continues deportations back to Haiti while taking steps to curtail protection programs for migrants from Haiti and other countries.
