A Maharashtra court has granted bail to two political supporters involved in a recent altercation at the Maharashtra legislature complex. The supporters belonged to NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad and BJP's Gopichand Padalkar.

On Monday, the Esplanade court's Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, K S Zanwar, sanctioned bail for Nitin Deshmukh, Awhad's supporter, and Sarjerao Takale, a backer of Padalkar. Each accused posted a bail bond of Rs 25,000, according to Deshmukh's attorney, Navnath Devkate.

The altercation took place on July 17 amid a heated political debate, with police detaining both men under several charges, including unlawful assembly. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis later lamented the disruption, stressing the essential role of legislators in upholding parliamentary standards.
