In a recent development, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned from his position, citing medical reasons for his departure. Dhankhar submitted his resignation letter due to health concerns, and his exit was announced immediately.
The Vice President, who is also the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, had been overseeing the proceedings of the upper house since August 2022. However, health priorities have necessitated this decision, which he communicated to President Droupadi Murmu on Monday evening.
Following his resignation, the duties of chairing the Rajya Sabha were taken over by Deputy Chairman Harivansh, who managed the morning session on Tuesday. Dhankhar emphasized the importance of adhering to medical advice as the primary reason for stepping down from his role.
