Eight political parties, led by the Congress and Left, have appealed to Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati for urgent intervention to combat the increasing crime rates against women within the state.
The delegation, spearheaded by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhakta Charan Das, presented a memorandum at Raj Bhavan, referencing shocking cases in Balasore and Puri as emblematic of the broader systemic issues.
Highlighting failures of the State Commission for Women and the backlog of thousands of complaints, the memorandum pressed for swift action. Meanwhile, BJP's state vice-president, Biranchi Tripathy, dismissed the Congress' efforts as politically motivated.
