Roof Collapse in Jhalawar School Sparks Urgent Safety Measures

Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, voiced his profound sorrow on Friday following a disheartening incident in Jhalawar district where a school roof collapse claimed the lives of students. Sharma pledged a rigorous inquiry to unearth the cause and safeguard against similar occurrences.

In a self-recorded message, Sharma conveyed, "The incident is tragic and the loss of innocent children profound. Our government stands by the affected families, ensuring the injured receive optimal medical attention." Additionally, Health Minister Madan Dilawar has been tasked with reviewing the situation while statewide directives demand district collectors evaluate school building safety.

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, labeling the event as "tragic," extended condolences to the victimized families and urged an in-depth investigation. He insisted that the Education Minister and local authorities tackle the foundational problems, stressing the need for alternative arrangements should any structures prove precarious.

Three students perished and several sustained injuries in the collapse at Piplodi Primary School, confirmed Jhalawar's Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Budania. While recounting the ordeal, a surviving student revealed, "Amidst our class, stones began descending from the roof. Despite alerting our teacher, our warnings went unheeded before the structure gave way."

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his grief via social media, imploring for divine intervention to limit casualties and expedite the recovery of the injured. The incident has ignited a clarion call for bolstered structural evaluations across all educational establishments in the region.
