In a remote area of eastern Ladakh, a devastating incident claimed the lives of two Indian Army personnel on Wednesday. A boulder fell from a cliff and struck an army vehicle, part of a convoy, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to three officers.
The tragic accident took place at Charbagh near Durbuk in Galwan around 11:30 a.m. Lt Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh Mankotia and Lance Dafadar Daljit Singh, who were part of the 14 Sindh Horse unit, were identified as the deceased. The injured survivors include Maj Mayank Shubham, Maj Amit Dixit, and Capt Gaurav.
In a solemn tribute, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and the Northern Command honored the fallen soldiers, expressing solidarity with the grieving families. The convoy, engaged in a training move from Durbuk to Chongtash, was severely impacted by the incident, with recovery operations currently underway.
