In a sharp criticism of both the BJP and the National Conference, People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti accused them of failing to bring peace and development to Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking on the party's anniversary, she invoked the legacy of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Mufti emphasized that solutions for the region's issues must come from within Jammu and Kashmir, not from centralized Delhi. She called for unity among the people, claiming that neither the BJP nor the National Conference has fulfilled their electoral promises, leaving the region in turmoil.
Highlighting the impact of conflict, Mufti stressed the need for peace with dignity, cautioning against rising global tensions that could spark conflicts involving India. She criticized the BJP's divisive politics and called for an end to hostilities to foster progress and development.
