Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, has made an appeal to the central government, urging it to bridge the emotional divide between New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir through meaningful engagement. According to Farooq, neither violence nor force can resolve the longstanding issues.
During his address at the historic Jamia Masjid on Friday, Farooq commended the unity displayed by Kashmiri MPs in Parliament, especially in light of debates following the Pahalgam incident. He highlighted the conversations around the human costs of conflict, overshadowed by other political narratives.
Farooq also acknowledged the efforts of the three MPs from Jammu and Kashmir who passionately spoke on the floor of the house about the struggles faced by the region's people. He expressed hope that their messages reached New Delhi's policymakers for genuine change and dialogue.
