Senior Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee has stepped down from his role as the party's chief whip in the Lok Sabha. The resignation comes after allegations of poor coordination among party MPs, a situation he feels unjustly blamed for.
Banerjee's decision followed a virtual meeting led by TMC head and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The meeting sought solutions to improve the party's parliamentary performance amid dissatisfaction with some MPs' lackluster attendance records.
Sources reveal that recent disputes with fellow MPs, particularly with Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra, influenced this step. Despite his resignation, Kalyan Banerjee might extend his tenure temporarily, following a request from TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
