Odisha Congress president Bhakta Charan Das expressed strong opposition to the Supreme Court's criticism of Rahul Gandhi regarding his statements on Chinese occupation of Indian territory. Das asserted that Justice Dipankar Datta overstepped by questioning Gandhi's 'Indianness' merely for criticizing the Modi administration's handling of Chinese aggression.
Das highlighted the restriction placed on Gandhi's ability to address Chinese affairs within Parliament and defended his right to use social media for such discussions. Referencing the sacrifices of Gandhi's family, he challenged the need for further evidence of Gandhi's patriotism.
Adding to the defense, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot emphasized that Gandhi's disclosures about the Chinese intrusion into Indian land were public knowledge, citing the documented 2000 km incursion. The commentary came after the Supreme Court disapproved of Gandhi's remarks, questioning the credibility of his claims.
