Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha came to a standstill on Wednesday as Opposition members vociferously objected to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Despite the chaos, The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill 2025 was approved by voice vote, having already passed in the Lok Sabha.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Chairman Harivansh declined 35 notices under Rule 267, stating they didn't meet necessary criteria. His call for a smooth session was ignored by protesting Opposition members who forced multiple adjournments.
In the midst of the uproar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the 2025-26 Demands for Grants for Manipur, struggling for attention amid the persistent noise in the House.
