The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of challenging the Supreme Court's authority with her recent comments supporting her brother, Rahul Gandhi, against the court's reprimand. BJP has urged the court to take suo-motu cognizance of the remarks.
Drawing parallels to a previous incident where BJP MP Nishikant Dubey faced backlash for his comments on the Supreme Court, the BJP emphasized that the law should be applied equally to all, including the Gandhi family. This was in response to Priyanka Gandhi's statement that judges should not determine who is a 'true Indian.'
Amidst escalating tensions, BJP IT cell head Amity Malaviya criticized the Gandhi family for their perceived contempt towards the judiciary and demanded accountability. Nishikant Dubey also supported the call for judicial action, warning of diminishing public trust in the legal system if the issues remain unaddressed.
