The West Bengal BJP unit on Wednesday unveiled the final list of district presidents, completing the leadership appointments across all 39 organisational units in the state. New leaders for Darjeeling, Bongaon, and Barrackpore were named, while Ghatal's current president was reappointed for another term.
Sanjeeb Tamang, recommended by local MP Raju Bista, has been selected to lead Darjeeling. Bista's influence in the region shaped this decision. Bikash Ghosh, a trusted ally of local MP Shantanu Thakur, now heads the Bongaon district, reinforcing Thakur's influence. Tapas Ghosh, formerly of the BJP youth wing, was appointed in Barrackpore, reflecting his rise within party ranks.
In Ghatal, despite talks of change, Tanmoy Das continues as president, supported by ties to Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari. These appointments signal BJP's organizational strength as it readies for the 2026 state assembly elections.
