In a show of defiance, members of the INDIA bloc gathered at the Parliament House complex on Friday to protest the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral rolls. The opposition claims that the revision constitutes 'vote theft' and is an attempt to manipulate upcoming assembly elections.
Leading the charge, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and TMC's Abhishek Banerjee joined forces with parliamentarians from DMK and Left parties, convening near the Makar Dwar entrance. Armed with posters and placards, they vocalized demands for the discontinuation of the SIR, which they view as silent, invisible rigging.
The protest, now in its 13th day, has caused a significant impasse in parliamentary proceedings. With sessions frequently adjourned and minimal legislative progress made, the opposition urges urgent discussion on the Election Commission's actions, asserting that the rights of Bihar's voters are being compromised.
