In a bold move applauded by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, the DMK-led administration has unveiled its State Education Policy (SEP), challenging the central government's National Education Policy (NEP). During an address at Anna Centenary Library Auditorium, Stalin called for education to be exclusively managed by individual states, highlighting its original placement on the state list.

Accusing the central government of undermining state education, Stalin expressed pride in the new state policy, calling it a historical landmark for Tamil Nadu. He accused the central administration of attempting to destroy the state's educational heritage, reminiscent of past denials of educational opportunities during the Sangam era.

Stalin commemorated Periyar's resistance to the controversial Kula Kalvi scheme, alleging parallels with the current NEP which also includes a criticized three-language policy. Despite alleged fiscal threats from the Union government, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister MK Stalin has maintained an unwavering commitment to opposing NEP and advocating for a double-language system, cementing the state's stance on regional autonomy in education.
