Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations that the Election Commission (EC) has committed fraud with voter lists, likening the accusations to a script from famous Bollywood writers Salim-Javed. Fadnavis criticized Gandhi for continually citing these allegations without providing substantial evidence, calling the claims imaginative rather than factual.
Fadnavis noted the demand for a comprehensive revision of voter lists, such as the one being conducted in Bihar, had previously been put forward by his own party. Despite this, Fadnavis pointed out that Gandhi has strangely opposed such revisions, questioning the Congress leader's true intentions.
Alleging that Gandhi was seeking excuses for Congress's potential defeat in the 2024 general elections, Fadnavis accused him of misunderstanding voter list revisions. In a recent press conference, Gandhi claimed the 2024 elections were orchestrated by the EC to favor the BJP, citing unexpected losses in Karnataka as evidence. The EC has responded by asking Gandhi to either substantiate his allegations with signatures from Maharashtra and Karnataka's Chief Electoral Officers or issue an apology. Gandhi highlighted supposed 'vote theft' in Karnataka's Mahadevapura constituency while investigating unexpected defeats.
