In an increasingly tense political climate, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar has become a hotbed of controversy. Opposition Leader in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, is set to host a crucial dinner for INDIA bloc MPs, highlighting the contentious atmosphere around allegations of voter fraud in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Ahead of a pivotal march to the Election Commission scheduled for August 11, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has urged Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to issue an apology or provide evidence for his claims of voter list misconduct. These events underscore the heightened tensions within both Houses of Parliament since the Monsoon Session's commencement, where protests regarding the SIR have been prevalent.
On August 8, opposition leaders convened at Rahul Gandhi's residence to discuss strategies concerning the SIR in Bihar. Prominent figures, including Sharad Pawar and Farooq Abdullah, were present as Gandhi presented evidence of alleged 'vote chori.' The INDIA bloc has consistently called for discussions on the electoral roll revision, emphasizing the necessity for electoral transparency.
